why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

TIP...I love these crochet shorts and if you were wearing with heels then keep the top loose and relaxed to balance out the outfit if the shorts are very short as it gives the look more confidence

Spotty Silks.....

TIP...I think the seventies is a great way to do silk as wide leg trousers feel and look relaxed and an untucked short silk blouse is a relaxed way to show off the high waist add a great shoe and sunglasses
spotted blouse by whistles http://www.whistles.co.uk
trousers and shoes by topshop http://www.topshop.com

TIP...I have combined spots of different sizes on the blouse and the shorts which works when the colours have a common colour running through (in this case beige) and then added my boyfriends bow tie
blouse by silence & noise http://www.urbanoutfitters.co.uk
bow tie by john lewis http://www.johnlewis.com

TIP...silk shorts are a great alternative to a skirt add a camisole for a relaxed daytime look and toughen up soft colours and feminine clothes with black shoes

The Fifties.....

TIP...an all in one shorts suit is great in a print and a modern top knot and circular sunglasses complete the look and a halterneck is a great nod to the trend too
all in one by matalan http://www.matalan.co.uk
sunglasses by religion http://www.religionclothing.co.uk

TIP...I love the bird print of this as it makes the 50's look more modern and the bandeau top can also be replaced with a white shirt thats tied at the front for another less revealing 50's alternative
