why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

Milan Fashion Week, Day 2

TIP...double denim day! match your shirt to your jeans and add a shoe with a neon accent try a boot style shoe to add some strength to the look and stops it looking to feminine as this should be quite a tough look

Milan Fashion Week, Day 1.....

TIP...today I have opted for an all white day but don't think of white as being always so romantic wear jeans to give the look an edgier feel but keep them oversized and then have layered with a loose white jumper and added a great pair of shoes the tones can change and play with texture, I have broken it all up with a silk bomber jacket for a sporty feel and the snakeskin is a nod to next summer ahead!

London Fashion Week, Day 5

TIP...this is the season for wearing leather worn head to toe or broken up with textures like this but why not experiment with different trouser shapes like these loose peg leg ones which I have styled with an oversized shaped coat and the bag has a trim of colour only a small accent is needed to lift the outfit

London Fashion Week, Day 4

TIP...monchrome is a trend that seems to be here to stay seen at shows for ss13 why not give it a try now!  the silk bomber jacket ticks the sport lux box but the embroidery adds a slight oriental twist and have worn it with a kilt inspired skirt and the boots give the outfit a stronger more masculine feel to contrast against the skirt keep bag and accessories in monochrome too or add neon for a crazy burst or colour!

London Fashion Week , Day 3

TIP...head to toe print, go crazy and clash it up or do as I am and mix up variation of the same print in the same colour ways.  I have then added a white leather jacket as white is a fresh modern approach to biker jacket and again having it over sized gives this look a more up to date look

London Fashion Week, Day 2

TIP...leather & dungarees is all I have to say... this style is seen starting through aw12 but also coming through as a big style for next summer too! wear with a loose t-shirt and high tops or a great pair of boots.  I have also added this amazing posh mac another addition to your wardrobe that will dress everything up but still feel edgier because its oversized

London Fashion Week, Day 1

TIP...double denim day means I have worn a washed out denim shirt and jeans make sure the denim tones sit well together and I have rocked it up with silver metal heavy necklaces and bracelets and chunky metal belt with studded loafers the more silver and black leather the better!  A maxi coat is key for winter plus the dusty blue goes perfectly with denim

50's cool.....

This season the 50's turns bad girl its a harder look with more attitude but have added a laid back wearable twist.  This week you can win my oversized bag from the last look all you have to do it tell me how you would wear it and leave a comment below or tweet me @nataliehartley and will pick my favourite answer!  deadline is friday 14th september....good luck!

TIP...try a patent pencil skirt for a cooler way to do the 50's, I love adding a soft pastel knit for contrast and it gives a slightly more casual twist to the outfit with flats and no make up its a great daytime look
