why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

Paris Fashion Week Day 1

The Highlights.....

Let the shows commence!

Mix blue and grey together, pastel shades work better to bounce off darker colours, the grey is a great canvas to add colour to and faded denim is a good neutral balance
Coat by Joseph
Rollneck by Banana Republic
Jeans by Topshop
Trainers by New Balance
Bag by Prada
Sunglasses by Thierry Lasry

Another sunny day at Place Vendome the venue for some shows this season

But first stop and one of my favorite brands Dries van Noten

Hotel du Ville the view from my seat.....

The collection was a mix of seventies prints with a cool utilitarian edge running through I loved these bomber jackets

Rochas next start looking out for the gauntlet gloves seen everywhere and go bold!

Three ways to wear the knit at Vionnet

The seasonal H & M show at the Grand Palais was star studded from front to row model in the show guests included Miranda Kerr and Jessica Alba and the clothes were sexy with a touch of fluff!

Heavy silver trousers at Gareth Pugh, just add white

You can't head to Paris with eating Soupe a l'onion and whilst eating a me reading I found a great quote about business from Marigay McKee who now is about to turn around Saks Fifth Avenue stateside having turned around the fortunes at Harrods

Learn the business no matter what you do if you want to be successful you need to understand the figures too it's not just about the nice stuff!

Milan Fashion Week Day 6

The Highlights…..

It's the last day of Milan and we have eaten our weight in pasta and Parmesan.....

Today I have experimented with colour block but using pastels as a main base and wearing it with black and cream to make the pastel stand out and keep it fresh, wear loose trousers with flats too to accentuate the masculinity of the outfit

Coat by Dior (vintage)
Roll neck by Banana Republic
Trousers by Atea
Shoes my Marni
Bag by Prada
Sunglasses by Thierry Lasry

The highlight of my day was taking a look at the latest Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc collections and below are some of the key accessories designed by Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley in their new venture with Marc! Am sure these are going to be on a lot of shopping lists for next season!

The nineties buffalo boots have definitely been a point of inspiration for these! And for those too young to remember here they are!

The originals!

Worn by the Spice Girls what a classic

More from Marc by Marc

And who won't want these other 90's inspired cassette tape phone covers....put your orders in now!

See you in Paris!

Leather jacket by Acne
Grey funnel neck top by Maison Martin Margiela

Marni became one of my Milan Fashion Week favourites with crazy textures and shapes and birds nest looking hair styles not for everyone but the overall look was just my thing

Dolce & Gabbana are always a highlight on the fashion week calender....always a. Themed show today was medieval inspired set in a snowy woodland and clothes featured embellished hoods and crystal thigh boots as well as woodland creatures embroidered on clothes my fav looks below

For those who don't know Agnona, stylish wardrobe staples and in particular a great place to find a good coat....

Checking out details today like these metal shoe laces on the Calvin Klein boots or sheepskin bags

The 'Gentlewoman' bag by Bally sits on it's angled side taking inspiration from the heels of gentlemen's shoes that have also got the inside heel shaved off to stop the trousers getting caught when putting them on

Another genius idea is the shoe bag bag
Bally

Corsa Como is the Dover Street Market of Milan stocking all the coolest and latest brands and they are so ahead of the game they even have the fresh off the catwalk Jeremy Scott for Moschino collection that was shown only 2 days ago! Bags were around the £600 who wants one?!

Me and my big head.....

The giant size Bottega Veneta dolls

Me and Jesus….

Simple with a twist of seventies Bottega Venta started the day off

The venue for the Roberto Cavalli show is always here and today the venue was a furnace of fire that left us all hot under our collar in more ways than one! Fab beaded pieces in pastel shades were some of my favourite looks

The ring of fire became the catwalk at Cavalli

Tod's are continuing to build on their luxury empire and the pastels shades below are variations of the softest leather you will ever feel! If you want to try wearing pastels opt for blue it's an easier colour to wear all round

Emporio Armani and their unlikely inspiration..... yes Parrell eat your heart out! Except these ones have pearls!

From posh boots....

Emporio Armani

Jimmy Choo

To posh trainers .....

Ralph Lauren does the high top

Even Jimmy Choo does a more slimline plimsole version in navy sure and pointy.....it's ticking all the trend boxes

Any finally we all love a bit of faux fur by Ralph Lauren!
The posh rucksack!

Jil Sander ends the day.....give me the lot thanks very much but these 2 looks will do to start!
