why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

Let the shows commence.....

How fast has 6 months gone?! In this time I have started my new role as fashion director at Glamour magazine and today I set off to NYC for the aw14 season and this is where the next month starts.....
What to pack?

My new snowy obsession...moon boots and my favourite logo sweatshirt

It's all about a high neck as my alternative to a scarf and nothing does it better than Maison Martin Margiela the masters at putting a twist on normality

Layer up thanks to ShopBop who left this thoughtful gift for me a T by Alexander Wang long sleeve marl tee and cashmere beeny

My new fav brand Atea, this shirt will be my show wardrobe staple

Nearly everything I have taken is by Marques Almeida I can't get enough in my ever expanding wardrobe it's the only way to wear denim right now so fray your edges

The bags of choice must include a rucksack

Shades for all occasion's from the top prada, prism and armani

This was what I travelled in today from Heathrow to JFK and to be honest it was so cold in the plane thank god I had this new purchase on…

Skirts.....

This season is all about the skirt and one of my favourite styles is the midi skirt, inspired by the shapes seen in the past at Celine this style is great for all shapes and you can WIN the white one I am wearing in the second outfit1 Just leave a comment below or retweet the blog to enter the competition, dealing Saturday 8th February...good luck!

TIP...mixing strong minimal shapes with a simple a line skirt works really well here and for the cold winter days add a boots to toughen up the feminine look use coloured sunglasses to add colour.  This skirt shape is great for those with a narrow body shape
coat and skirt by jil sander at selfridges
shirt by james perse
boots by chloe
sunglasses by emporio armani

TIP...two trends on look the kick hem skirt is a great shape for the curvier figure and to bring it up to date I have styled it with this years must have jacket the puff, keep colour tones simple and go for a slightly longer top to show off the hem and not the shape of your body
jacket by stella mccartney
t-shirt by american vintage
skirt by zara
boots and sunglasses as before

Blue…..

To celebrate the upcoming Fashion Week I want to give you the chance to WIN this  Oswald Helgason for Aldo Rise bag that I wore to NYC Fashion Week last season. Conveniently for this post BLUE has become the colour of the new Spring/ Summer season (ranging from navy to pastel blue tones) and what a better way to introduce this into your wardrobe than with a strong graphic printed bag.   Leave a comment below or retweet the blog for your chance to WIN, deadline Saturday 1st February, good luck!

TIP… this season mix and match your shades of blue and the use the brightest tone to accessorise with such as this bag but  for a new season update try clothing in pastel shades instead of navy but keep the accessories simple and don't match up your shoes if you have gone for a brighter coloured bag stick to black or white heels or flats for a cooler look
