why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

Paris Fashion Week Day 4

The Highlights.....

Denim Days

Old faded jeans are a great canvas for most things but as the mood of A/W 14 seems to be all about grey I thought I would layer up with tones of and recreate what I have seen. When playing with shades of colour I like to wear simple strong shapes like this funnel neck top

Coat by Joseph
Top and boots by Margiela
Jeans by Levi's
Bag by Prada

Proenza Schouler accessories

If you are all about black and white hen this must be yours!

And then add some pink heels to the list great with jeans or even a tailored suit and style with a sock to be really on trend!

AF Vandervorst

The giant puffa at Junya Watanabe....surely the best way to stay warm! #duvet

Rodger Vivier has been inspired by Bob Dylan in the Casbah this season and animal print is having another moment

Tailoring and knits are this seasons biggest trends but this is the avant garde version at Commes de Garçons

The tickets for the Nicolas Ghesquiere for Louis Vuitton show arrived today in a perfect leather envelope (good for future use) stylish and very excited to see what he will be doing there for his first season!

Paris Fashion Week Day 3

The Highlights.....

Mixing textures and again adding a white shirt makes denim and leather work better together and freshens it all up! Knee high boots work really well with culottes or cropped trousers give them a try, and I have tied my hair back as well to keep the look simple and laid back

Today is Dior and one of my favourite shows and Raf Simons who is head designer there always manages to come up with something incredible that works for the Dior customer but also managing to use exciting fabrics and design details that makes you want it all!

The crowds are always a bit mental at Dior and the whole area needs policing but it's worth turning up as the people watching is amazing!

Inside the venue there are satellite style light boards that changed colours

This show was possibly one of his best with sporty details on the coats like these lace up sides and backs and the colours used worked amazingly well together tailoring was also a key trend throughout the collection and the accessories will definitatley not disappoint stripe snakeskin bags looked amazing

The puffa makes a new way into next season as the 'puffa dress'

I loved the colour but my favourite looks were these simple tailored pieces

Isabel Marant was back in business and showed an extremely desirable collection in particular these trousers are on my must have list, padded and so comfy!

Another favourite of mine was the Margiela show and this time tailoring contrasted to pretty lace or silk layers but the key fabric with Harris Tweed which was heavily used throughout and the label displayed proudly on the back of everything tweed!

The new bag shape above fits into the side of the body

The oversized jacket at Sharon Wauchob and more wa to wear white, black and grey...

You always feel like a tourist but it's so beautiful and quite like it when it's dark and moody

Been sent a box of all the latest Dior makeup
#spoilt

The Stella invite arrived today and it comes complete with neon plastic keyring

Balmain also clashed prints and love the military green utility pieces in leather to make them cool and sexy still

Ann Demeulemeester famous for loose black dressing also grew in these simple head to toe all white looks for all the puritans out there! Simple yet effective dressing if you are brave enough to wear all white!

Nina Ricci pulled in the crowd (Jessica Alba) and the looks with her luxe track suit trouser

Love this range of colours and blush seems to be a big hit next season plus in luxe velvet it's a great winter look I particularly love the red leather trousers they seems like leather track suit bottoms ... so cool!

Barbara Bui is one of my hidden gems easy wearable pieces but effortlessly cool

One of my favourite models showcasing some crazy abs!

Lanvin was the final show of the day and I loved the dark and grungy feel that the show started with tweed ruffles and knits all with cool pointed flats and Alber Elbaz even managed to pull in the queen of pop for the FROW .... Rihanna who showcased another sharp new hairdo in the form of a bob. Her presence created pure mayhem

You can't head to Paris with eating Soupe a l'onion and whilst eating a me reading I found a great quote about business from Marigay McKee who now is about to turn around Saks Fifth Avenue stateside having turned around the fortunes at Harrods

Learn the business no matter what you do if you want to be successful you need to understand the figures too it's not just about the nice stuff!
