why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

The (Dior) Earring.....

it's a game of two halves.  this earring has it all, firstly its half marble (of which I am obsessed with right now), it can be slotted together and worn as one single earring (all the rage right now) or put in as two separate pieces that hang at different heights (my preference).  This earring has moved on from the single pearl craze of last season and this for me it the ultimate accessory.  I am not madly into wearing earrings but you can't go wrong with the simplicity of this.  its a must have piece and probably a collectors item in time too so worth the investment now.

The New Going Out.....

I am a big fan of dressing casual things up and clean simplicity is key for me to go out with and to start this idea for you there is nothing more versatile than a collarless white shirt.  This week you can WIN the one am wearing so for your chance to enter simply leave a comment below or on my Instagram or Twitter

TIP...look for a collarless style shirt it gives a more elegant and dressed up approach to your look adding jeans to dress it down and the gold heel makes this look perfect for a laid back new years eve

TIP.. the perfect way to wear this coat is add a hoodie and a pair of jeans and wear with a good boot but these bigger shaped coats do mean you should balance the look with something more fitted underneath to give your leg a slimmer look its all about balancing sizes

The Hoodie.....

Sportswear has become an acceptable way of dressing outside of the gym and designers have been hugely inspired by the hoodie, this is one of my favourite styles and in leather keeps your outfit on trend but stylish enough to wear out and about.  This week you can WIN this ASOS one that I am wearing just leave a comment below or on my Instagram or RT the blog on Twitter to enter...deadline is Monday 8th December...good luck!

TIP... add a pair of straight leg cropped trousers to dress up a simple basic liked this hoodie wear with a simple heeled ankle boot to also stop this outfit from looking to 'street' the idea is to stay grown up and sophisticated with a touch of sport and layer a polo neck underneath for another detail

Ripped denim.....

Its all in the rip and this Winter cut off your hems, waistbands or sleeves it's the easiest trend to copy and by doing so gives denim an instant update plus the cheapest way to update your wardrobe

TIP... go for head to toe denim but the ripped hems break it up plus adding a shine to a top like this also breaks up the look and add colour through a bag

Knits and Navy.....

This winter my colour palette has turned blue, but not just any blue but navy blue.  Its a really adaptable colour and is a softer alternative to black and looks great worn head to toe which will limit efforts you make and still look effortless and cool

for extra effect why not try a head to toe knitted option its the new tracksuit super comfy yet super stylish (or I think so anyway!)

Hems.....

Its all in a hem...
these are two ways to wear your trousers this winter the standard roll or the seventies turn up, either way you choose its all about small details to give your outfit an individual touch.  This week you can make a start yourself and WIN the J Brand jeans and wearing in the second outfit just leave a comment below or on my Instagram @nataliehartleywears or Twitter @nataliehartley
deadline Saturday 1 November...good luck!

TIP... roll up the hems of loose skinny leg trousers for a more bohemian vibe and it looks great worn with ankle boots and allows you to show them off so try something bold like a strong colour or shape

TIP...the seventies turn up works best on a straight leg trouser and ideally jeans like this are great as the tonal underneath gives a good hem contrast
