why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

Pyjamas.....

Another week another prize!  This week you can win the whole of the second look!  As before tweet me @nataliehartley or leave a comment as to which your favourite of the 3 looks from this weeks blog are and why or how you would wear it and will pick my favourite comment.  Then send me a picture of how you wear it and will post it on the blog/ tweet it.  Good Luck! x

TIP...florals are a great way to wear head to toe print and I have opted for a tighter fitting outfit for the tucking the shirt in for shape and have worn with a stiletto look out for steel toe caps (big for winter too!)

TIP...I love this outfit the loose sleeveless shirt also looks great tucked in but the loose pyjama style trousers look best with heels to avoid a literal 'got out of bed' look!

TIP...a traditional pyjama shaped top looks great unbuttoned to act like a jacket worn over a white tee and loose trousers is a very cool laid back summer outfit the pastel colours look great and not too girly when worn with brogues

  1. First look is most definitely my favourite, I'd wear it with some chunky gold bling and my vintage pointed heels. Have the hair in the bun to show off the collar or hair down with a black floppy hat. Maybe turn up the trousers a bit. Such a fun outfit, that's why I would wear it!

  2. Second look, hands down!

The rich red and gold colors would look great with blue denim: the top tucked in to skinny or wide-leg blue jeans. Leave as is for the spring/summer months, or, for fall, layer with a textured boucle cardigan and wear with tall brown leather riding boots.

I love keeping the top and bottom together, as you've done, and with some crazy platform heels. I'd accessorize with tons of gold and jewel-encrusted bracelets, with colors to play off of the red.

Finally, the pants! For an easy-breezy, yet super chic look, I'd pair with a simple cotton or silk tank and layer on the necklaces. Add loose black blazer for an evening look.

  3. The third look is my favourite because it is a fresh summery approach to full on pattern.

If I won the second outfit I would wear it in the fresh style of look 3 - as separates. One outfit would be subtle, floaty and chic and the other will be IN YOUR FACE! (my two fave ways of dressing).

The trousers worn with a tucked-in simple white tee and some big sunglasses, maybe the Retrosun Vintage Viennas which keep the trousers modern and then accessoried simply with one watch or a couple of rings.

I'd then use inspiration from look 3 to wear the blouse - layered over a tank or tee (depending on day/night), adding my huge cascading Merle O'Grady necklace and wearing with skinnies and dangerous looking stilettos.... and maybe a few rings for good measure!

  4. The second outfit is divine and the absolute epitome of Talitha Getty chic.

I'd go for maximum impact and keep the sixties inspired printed top and trousers together. Add a clashing scarf to wrap my hair in a large top knot. Accessorise with Tom Ford tortoiseshell sunglasses, chunky gold bangles and rings, Alexander Wang Rocco bag (for a slightly tougher edge) and bronze Terry De Havilland platforms. Finish with subtle bronze makeup and a red orange statement lip.

Perfect for a long lazy lunch in a lush and sultry, headily perfumed Moroccan garden.

  5. I think the first look is amazing on you but it would have to be the second for me. You may not approve but I would pin the bottom of the trousers and roll them up to my ankles and where them with bright purple suede heels and a lilac cardie with a gold bracelet. Deep cherry lips and white sunnies....Now where's my club sandwich? :)
