why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

Ragging Red.....

This week I am wearing RED its a colour that I feel suits most people and so want to give you the chance to get into this trend by entering to winning the red boots from my first look! ( NB they are a size 7) all you have to do is explain how you would wear them yourself, leave a comment below or tweet me @nataliehartley and I will pick my favourite answer!  deadline is friday 31st august...good luck!

Red has been considered a key colour for most autumn winter collections over the years but wearing it head to toe mixing up shades and textures is the most up to date way to wear it just look for strong simple silhouettes

With this outfit I have mixed hints of red like the fur trim on the coat (look for separate fur pieces to update an old coat) and the red detail in the trousers I have styled both pieces with an old stones tee and worn red lipstick (the perfect finishing touch) this look is all about clashing styles but red is the continuous theme that pulls it all together

This winter its all about a great coat and great boots wear with bare legs to break up the solid colour look for these great coat shapes as this could also be belted to create more shape

  1. I love your red looks, especially the first one. I'd wear these with my electric blue coat and black pleather pants.

  2. Love those checked trousers - trust them to be the one designer piece in the outfit! xx

  3. Couldn't resist having a go at this competition love the red boots and in my size too!
At the moment I would wear them with faded demin cut off shorts and a bright turquoise top that has got red and bright pink parrots all over it and big sleeves (that sounds horrible but its fab - came from a charity shop though so no idea who originally designed it) and a red floppy hat (if I had one)
When it gets too long for shorts (probably about 20 minutes time) then black dress and red lipstick to make the shoes shine

  4. Love the red booties and your outfit, hard to top that. I love layering so I would go with a navy tube dress layered with a military shirt and a brown pleather vest. Maybe some chainy necklaces for a little shine.
