why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

50's cool.....

This season the 50's turns bad girl its a harder look with more attitude but have added a laid back wearable twist.  This week you can win my oversized bag from the last look all you have to do it tell me how you would wear it and leave a comment below or tweet me @nataliehartley and will pick my favourite answer!  deadline is friday 14th september....good luck!

TIP...try a patent pencil skirt for a cooler way to do the 50's, I love adding a soft pastel knit for contrast and it gives a slightly more casual twist to the outfit with flats and no make up its a great daytime look

TIP...another classic turned on its head is the biker jacket look out for quilted details seen everywhere this winter and wear with a simple straight leg trousers and a white tee give it a modern edge and wear with cats eye shades for the 50's detail

TIP...berry tones have been all over the catwalks so why not try a high waisted crop jean and wear simply with this great round neck top the sleeve detail is all you need to nod to this trend and again wear with flats and an oversized clutch (its the new day bag!)

  2. I'd definitely wear this bag with my black leather knee length pencil skirt , 'cherry red' classic doc martens , leopard print knit ( gotta make use of that last season leopard print) and bare legs! It's still summer after all :-)

  3. I would add a chain from a vintage bag I already own and wear it as a shoulder bag. Neat!

  4. The bag is the most amazing blush and the look is delicate but structural.

I would team the bag with some great quality slim leg beige trousers with a textured piece of knitwear also in beige .

To finish off the look I would put together a well structured collarless baby blue knee length coat and a pair of pure white high tops.

The blush colour would work well with softer neutral colours such as beige but the baby blue of the coat and white of the trainers will brighten the look.

The trousers and coat should be structured to compliment the bags soft but structural feel.

I imagine this look to be clean and crisp but laid back at the same time.
