why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

Free People.....

This week I have been taking street style photographs of cool Londoners for Free People who are coming over from the states and launching in the UK.  I have picked my 3 favourite things from their site to give you a taste of whats to come!  You can also win the cowboy boots from the first outfit (size 7) so leave a comment or tweet me @nataliehartley with how you would wear them and be in with a chance to win!  Good luck.....

TIP...the skater dress shape is still going strong and I love the tribal print of the dress and have worn with a pair of cowboy boots to dress it down add a great coat or even a comfy oversized cardigan

TIP...printed jeans are everywhere so take the floral trend on with these skinny floral bleached jeans I have cut a denim short to give it a cool boxy shapes and worn with a white coat to give the whole outfit a more modern streamlined look

TIP...I love the mix of embroidery and leather in this jacket and the bomber jacket shape means that these colours and detailing are bang on trend I have worn with baggy 501's and a colourful shoe to pick out the colour in the jacket (look out for steel toe caps too!)

  1. I'd wear the cowboy boots with an all-white, multi-textured outfit; mohair sweater, leather pants.

  4. Well, I have a short '70s inspired purple dress, loose and with bouffant sleeves adn a panama hat. But since it's cold I would put on black leggings , an oversized menswear ispired shirt and the panama hat. I don't know why, the panama and the boots seem to fit together... :)

  5. Hiya Natalie,
Well arent those booties mighty fine! I wanted these from all saints, but never managed to find them in a size 7.
I would team them with my vintage stonewash dungaree jeans, a basic black tee, my fave maroon coloured wool fedora hat, lenon sunnies and of course a ring on each finger and my tatty plaited bracelets which live on me permanently!
Love the looks you have chosen here, and so excited about the arrival of FP to the UK, have been waiting forever!
    Ellen xoxo
