why i do what I do.....

I am now Fashion Director at Glamour magazine but following on from the success of my weekly column in the Sunday Times Style magazine I thought I would bring this page to life every week and also give you the chance to comment. This page is not for me to dictate what you should be wearing but to offer ideas on how to put wearable outfits together. Its not what you wear it's how you wear it!

True Blue.....

This week its all about the color of summer BLUE! It's a versatile colour and cobalt is key but mix you your tones for the latest way to wear the trend! This week you can WIN the check jumper from the first look just tell me how you would wear it by leaving a comment below or tweeting me @nataliehartley.  Deadline Sunday 20th January... Good Luck!

TIP... I am very into hats at the moment and love these cotton 60's inspired domed ones in blue to finish off the outfit a print worn underneath helps break up head to toe colour and have styled it with this oversized suede bomber jacket which looks great with the girly skirt but both have a sporty element that ties it altogether

TIP...double denim never goes away and is a great way to wear this trend look out for patchwork denim details like the shirt I am wearing different tones of blue denim look great when mixed altogether

TIP... taking inspiration from the ss13 dries van noten show (my favourite show of the season) its all about playing with check the big 90's print inspired by kurt cobain so I have clashed the shirt and trousers (things don't need to match perfectly) and thrown over a mens jumper and blazer the metallic shoes gives this a modern twist

  1. I'd style the jumper with a black skater skirt with a white horizontal stripe and a pair of acne ankle boots.

  4. I would love to see the jumper with some baggy oversized lightwash jeans with big roll ups.

To give the look a relaxed feel I'd add a pair of simple white pumps.

    ADD COLOUR!

The above would make a simple base for accessories to brighten things up!

Therefore the styling would be important to lift the look:

A high top knot (loose / scruffy) with a red scarf - think early 60's.

    Super red lipstick

Big statement red cuffs and/or bracelets (I'm thinking plastic / resin)

And a oversized but practical good quality tan leather shopper bag.

Perfect for Saturday morning vntage market shopping!

  5. Oooh! Looking goooooood!
Soooo I reckon I would go all 'check mate' and monochrome. I'd pair it with my Topshop block check denim leggings.
Perhaps add a touch of 'Cherry Pop' with my red Dr Marten 1460's and a slick of matching lipstick, a mess of red curls and throw my camel coloured wool coat over the top of it all to cosy it up a treat!
